The lead tech/owner sam is amazing. One of, if not the most honest and empathetic technicians I have found in the bay area. And an expert when it comes to E chassis BMWs. Very glad I was recommended to him. His hourly charge is also less than many other shops in the area, but the quality of work exceeds anything I’ve seen before.

Had a great experience at A-1 today. My car battery was dead and took it in to A-1 for charging it. Brady helped me and diagnosed it to be a bad battery. He still charged it to the max possible and had it driven and ran it in idle for a while. When I got there, the car started with no issue. Brady recommended I change the battery (still under warranty). Above all, he did not charge me anything. I couldn’t believe it! A top notch, honest place to go for car service.

Performed throttle body cleaning expertly on my daughter’s Subaru Forester. The car runs much better now. Very reasonable charge. No problem communicating with Google Translate. Highly recommended.

I’ve brought my Golf TDI here twice now, and both experiences have been outstanding. The service is always thorough, with excellent attention to detail. Brady, who I’ve worked with, is highly professional, knowledgeable, and makes the process straightforward. I’ll definitely continue bringing my car here for service and, if needed, repairs.

Exceptional service at an affordable price. I have taken my car here for many years. This last time the wipers were not working. All it needed was a screw tightened. The technician took care of it right away at no charge. I definitely recommend taking your car here for any repairs.

Would give A1 Foreign Auto 10 stars if I could. I was led here by the exceptional Google reviews and agree with the folks that have said that coming here is like having a family member in the business. This business is honest, fast, thorough, and professional. Have had my Tesla model Y serviced here and got fair quotes, with fast turnaround times and my car ready when they said. When I came back with a tire issue after driving over a nail, they had all my info saved and had my car back to me in under a day with the tire (under warranty) fixed completely free—not even a service charge. Brady has taken care of me each time and I felt he was truly professional, courteous, and 110% knows his stuff inside and out. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate to come here. Thoroughly honest, fast, and completely professional. This business is a treasure for Mountain View.

I think the price is not reasonable here and this is what I experienced: They don't have clear price for each fixing item and they do "inspection" first and ask you to sign a paper that charges $200 for "inspection". At this point, they don't share the price of any potential issue you want to fix. After the "inspection" you have 2 choices: spending $200 for no service or spending whatever they ask for the fix. In my case, they charged $500 for changing ignition switch, which is higher than what the dealer asked. But I cannot go to the dealer at this moment because I have to pay this store $200 for nothing (or so called "inspection") if I switch to the dealer. Btw, this store charges $140 for oil change. I would recommend Valvoline in 0.5 miles for doing a fast full synthetic oil change service at a similar or less (with coupon) price. My point is I don't think this store is as good as what is showed in their reviews (I'm suspecting the source of those reviews now). Maybe this is how the auto repair industry works but hope my experience could help you take a second thought when choosing this store and avoid being ripped off.

Good Morning, I apologize if you had a less than favorable experience, but I can assure you our prices are lower than what a VW Dealer would have charged for the same repair. We used a factory VW Ignition Lock Housing (Not just the Ignition Switch, though a new Ignition Switch does come pre-installed in the new Ignition Lock Housing). I just got off the phone with a local VW Dealer and they quoted me $925 for the repair that we charged you $495 for. Of course, we do Diagnose all issues prior to repairs so we can verify what needs to be done to correctly fix your issue and we do not charge that Diagnosis fee if repairs are completed with us. Great service! I have been going to this shop for my regular auto maintenance for three years now. Brady was very honest about the dented oil pan replacement the time I needed a replacement. When the pan was replaced I realized my mileage went up. All other times the maintenance was just replacement of oil and small parts like o-rings and the total charge comes out to be $96.

Upon recommendation from a long time A1 customer friend of mine, when I took my 2001 Lexus ES300 to A1 for an overdue servicing, I found the proprietor mechanic and colleagues very knowledgeable and honest. I then recommended my other friend bring his similar Lexus to A1 and he had a similar positive experience.

I have 3 words to describe my experience. Honest. Timely. Experienced. The quote was accurate, and the estimated time to get it done was accurate. The service was excellent. I also felt that the price was reasonable. I felt like a person, not just a number. I would go there again.
